What Is a Day Master in BaZi?

In the ancient system of BaZi (also known as the Four Pillars of Destiny), your birth data is converted into four pairs of elements — the Year, Month, Day, and Hour pillars.

The top element of your Day Pillar is called the Day Master. In traditional readings, the Day Master is one reference point in the chart. It can be used as a cultural prompt for discussing preferences and observations, but it does not define your identity or replace evidence about your life.

Your birth year and Day Master are traditional symbolic references. They do not define your identity or determine your future.

The 10 Day Masters: Which One Are You?

Because there are Five Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water) and each can manifest in a Yin (soft, internal) or Yang (strong, external) state, there are exactly 10 possible Day Masters.
