A Five Elements Weekly Reflection Practice
The Five Elements can be approached as a traditional set of images: growth, warmth, steadiness, clarity, and rest. This practice does not diagnose you or predict anything. It simply gives you five different lenses for noticing ordinary life.
Choose one small moment each day
Keep the practice light: one sentence, a sketch, or a short note is enough. The point is not to get the “right” element; it is to notice what language helps you describe your experience.
- Wood: What felt like a beginning, a question, or a stretch toward something new?
- Fire: What brought warmth, expression, or a sense of connection?
- Earth: What helped you return to a steady, ordinary rhythm?
- Metal: What became clearer when you edited, simplified, or said no?
- Water: Where did quiet, rest, or patient observation have a place?
End the week by looking for patterns
Read the five notes together. You may notice recurring places, people, times of day, or simple habits. Treat those observations as material for reflection rather than instructions about what your life should be.
